I don’t even know how to put this one into words.
WE WON. BEST FREAKING SPORTS BAR.
For years, I’ve sat at this event and watched someone else’s name go up on that screen for first place. Watching one of our bartenders be in the top multiple times. But the bar itself never winning. Every year I hoped maybe this would be our year. Not second not third. To win it. Tonight, it was.
Wrigley Field.
And maybe to some people, this seems like a small win. Just an award. Just a name on a screen.
But to us little people? This is pretty big.
We didn’t buy this. We didn’t luck into it. We earned it.
Through the long days, the late nights, the packed houses and the painfully slow ones. Through staffing problems, sleepless nights, stress, tears, mistakes, lessons, changes, and more moments than I can count where giving up would have been easier.
And especially after the emotional roller coaster of the last few weeks, seeing our name up there hit me harder than I ever expected.
What I love the most, is not one single placer was a corporate place. Truly the best of the west. I would have gladly taken 2nd to either of these incredible businesses.
This place has taken a lot out of me. But it has also given me something I am incredibly proud of.
To our staff , past and present …who have helped build Wrigley into what it is, thank you. We would not be where we are today without you. you have been a part of getting us here, and I hope you know this win belongs to you, too.
To every single person who has walked through our doors, brought your friends, watched a game with us, ordered a b**r, shared our posts, voted for us, supported us and continued to choose our little sports bar….this belongs to you too.
Years of work. For a small award. tonight…
WE EARNED IT. BEST SPORTS BAR. WRIGLEY FIELD.
I think I’m going to stare at these pictures for a while.
