TBT: October, 1997. At this point in time GILT was rehearsing and performing plays in the auditorium of the old Walnut Junior High School, located at 504 N. Elm street. “Two by Two” is a heartwarming musical comedy about Noah, who struggles to fulfill God’s command to build an ark while navigating family disagreements, generational conflicts, and the challenges of saving humanity from the coming flood. The production featured the transformation of a house into the ark during the show, and then the voyage of the ark during the remainder of the story. Directed by Julie Miller*, Technical Directors: Pam Krall and Darla Rosendahl, with Accompanist Rhonda Ulmer, and the cast, including Scott E. Miller*, Paula Freelend, Jay Willhoft, Jody Powers, Eric Lorenz*, Tonya Krohn, Greg Sanchez* and Monika Peters. (*GILT Hall of Fame)

Theatre Terminology Tuesday: Strike the Set!

No, we’re not hitting anything. 😂 In theatre, “striking the set” means taking everything down after the final performance.

The show may be over, but there’s still work to do! From set pieces to props, it’s time to turn the stage back into an empty space.

So thankful for all the help!

TBT: 1974 • Believe It or Not, GILT’s “The Miracle Worker” opened on Halloween night, October 31st, a Thursday, running through Sunday, November 3rd. William Gibson’s “The Miracle Worker” tells the inspiring story of teacher Anne Sullivan’s determined efforts to break through the isolation of young Helen Keller, who is blind and deaf, and help her discover language, communication and independence. The show was directed by Vicki Guida and the cast included: Weston Webb*, Lynne Deyle, Sarah Sartin, Rebecca Willman, Steve Zuehlke, Betty Kenzie, Gretchen Hess John Willman III, Wilma Stevens and Gus Hackman.
