St. Peter's Fiesta 2017
The schedule of events for Gloucester's 90th St. Peter's Fiesta:
-----Monday/Tuesday, June 19-20-----
7 p.m. Final nights of the Novena to St. Peter, Lester S. Wass Post 3 American Legion Hall.
-----Wednesday, June 21-----
5 p.m.: Fiesta Shows carnival opens; "Ride all night" coupons for kids available at local businesses.
7 to 10 p.m.: Barry Mooney and the Sounds of Legends, musical entertainment, main altar/stage, St. Peter's Square.
-----Thursday, June 22-----
5 p.m.: Fiesta Shows carnival; "Ride all night" coupons for kids available at local businesses.
6:30 p.m.: Fiesta 5k road race, cosponsored by Cape Ann YMCA. Starting line at Stage Fort Park, finish line at St. Peter's Square. For more information, call Cape Ann YMCA at 978-283-0470. Police Chief John McCarthy is reminding residents that streets along the course -- Western Avenue from State Fort east, Rogers Street and parts of Main Street -- will be closed during the race period. Anyone looking to drive downtown should plan accordingly.
8 to 11 p.m.: Musical entertainment and dancing featuring the band Wildfire, main altar/stage, St. Peter's Square.
-----Friday, June 23-----
4 p.m.: Fiesta Shows carnival opens.
4:45 p.m.: Greasy Pole Walk and women's seine boat races, Pavilion Beach.
6:30 p.m.: Musical entertainment, main altar/stage, St. Peter's Square.
7 p.m.: Formal opening procession and ceremonies, outside St. Peter's Club and in St. Peter's Square.
9 to 11 p.m.: Musical entertainment featuring Paul London and Jimmy Geany.
-----Saturday, June 24-----
10 a.m.: Special seine boat race featuring teams from U.S. Coast Guard, Gloucester Police Department and Gloucester Fire Department.
Noon: Fiesta Shows carnival opens.
3 p.m: Children's games, Beach Court.
4:45 p.m.: Greasy Pole Walk and seine boat races, Pavilion Beach.
8 to 11 p.m.: Musical entertainment by the group Oasis, main altar/stage, St. Peter's Square.
-----Sunday, June 25-----
10 a.m.: Outdoor Mass of St. Peter, main altar/stage, St. Peter's Square.
Noon: Procession of St. Peter, beginning and finishing at St. Peter's Square. Route runs up Washington Street, over Prospect Street, then up Maplewood Avenue to Shepherd Street and over Shepherd to Pleasant Street and St. Ann Church. Marchers then go back down to Prospect Street and to Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, then down onto Main Street to Hancock, and down Hancock to Rogers Street and St. Peter's Square.
Noon: Fiesta Shows Carnival Opens
3 p.m.: Blessing of the Fleet, Fishermen's Memorial, Stacy Boulevard.
3 p.m.: Concert featuring Cape Ann Big Band, main altar/stage, St. Peter's Square.
4:45 p.m.: Greasy Pole Walk of Champions and seine boat racing finals, Pavilion Beach.
6:30 p.m.: Children's pinata contest, Pascucci Court.
7:15 p.m.: Sports Awards ceremony, main altar/stage, St. Peter's Square.
8:30 p.m.: Musical entertainment featuring Franco Corso, main altar-stage, St. Peter's Square.
11 p.m.: Raffle drawings and closing procession with St. Peter.
