After many wonderful years, Meritage Wine Bar has closed its doors.

It has been my absolute honor to be welcomed into the Glen Cove community and to serve you for so long.

To everyone who walked through our doors, thank you for your support, your loyalty, and for allowing us to be part of your lives.

To our incredible staff, past and present — your dedication, heart, and passion made this place what it was.

We are deeply grateful for the years we were given and for the relationships that were built along the way.

We would like to clarify and correct the wording used in a recent social media post.
Over the past few weeks, two separate incidents occurred:
• A petty larceny, involving someone entering the premesie and taking money without authorization
• A separate physical dispute with a patron on New Year’s Eve
In our initial post, the word “robbery” was used in error. We understand that under New York law, a theft without force does not meet the legal definition of robbery, and we apologize for the incorrect terminology.
We appreciate the Glen Cove Police Department for their prompt response, professionalism, and continued assistance with the investigation into the larceny.
These events were real and understandably distressing. There was no intent to mislead. We remain focused on maintaining a safe environment for our guests and staff and on continuing to be a positive part of the Glen Cove community.

Glen Cove — read this.
Meritage has been here for 8 years. Eight years of paying taxes, employing local people, supporting charities, showing up for this town, and trying to create something positive.
And recently?
We were robbed.
And I was physically assaulted — punched in the face in my own restaurant, bleeding everywhere.
Let that sink in.
This is what it’s come to: owners getting beaten inside the businesses they built. Businesses that tried to be part of the fabric of this community.
So yeah, I’m angry. I’m confused. And I’m done pretending this is normal or acceptable.
If the message is that hard work, loyalty, and community mean nothing — then say it out loud.
If you’d rather see local businesses close than feel safe in their own spaces — fine. We’ll listen.
But don’t celebrate restaurants when they open and disappear when they’re bleeding.
We’re still here. But something is broken — and it’s not us.
