Long post about extra food resources at this time and how to support the O-W Pantry with donations. Thanks for reading & sharing.
EXTRA FOOD RESOURCES FOR NOVEMBER:
>>In addition to our O-W drive-thru monthly distribution on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, we plan to have a pop-up pantry every Thursday at 3pm where people come inside to pick out their food. In addition to the food rescue from Dollar General, we have ordered more food from Feed My People. You may come to the pantry multiple times/month and you may have someone else pick up food for you.
>>We will be calling our homebound deliveries next week to see if they need additional food deliveries this month.
>>Remember food is available 24/7 at the mobile Red Door Pantry at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen (415 W 3rd St)
>>Free Thanksgiving Dinner at St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church in Owen on Nov. 27 (usually 11am-1pm). Watch the Clark County Economic Development Corporation and Tourism Bureau 's page for a list of free Thanksgiving dinners in other nearby cities.
>>See list of area food pantries in the pic below. We especially recommend going to the Loyal pantry to participate in the TEFAP program - this USDA program remains funded and provides additional proteins
DONATIONS - FOOD, CASH & DEER
>>Food donations welcome - drop boxes at Withee Village Hall and Owen Library. The FCCLA is also hosting a Food Drive at the High School now through Nov. 25. Contact Pastor Elizabeth Bier about bringing in perishable donations like meat, eggs, milk and dairy; 715-255-0013.
>>Cash donations have the biggest impact right now. Here’s examples of what we can buy from Feed My People: 24 boxes of Mac & Cheese for $9.55 ($.40/box); 24 1lb chubs of ground chicken for $37.03 ($1.54/lb); 48 cans of Tomato Soup for $35.55 ($.74/can); 24 cans of Green Beans for $12 ($.50/can); 24 cans of Black Beans for $16.08 ($.67/can); Toasty O’s 10/17.63 oz for $15.57 ($1.56/box). If you know of local deals to get similar prices, please let us know.
>>Prevail Bank Matching challenge November 10 through December 7 - they are matching $1,000 and the O-W Lions will also match $1,000. So, it’s triple impact! Stop by Prevail Bank in Owen and donate.
>>Deer Hunters - bring any legally harvested deer from now until January 4th to River Valley Meats in Withee; call before going: (715) 229-4230. They will process the deer and donate the ground venison to local food pantries free of cost (this is a state DNR sponsored program). https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/hunt/donation
>>Nazareth Lutheran Church has some funds to help with gas for your car; you may contact Pastor Elizabeth Bier to donate to that fund or to get gas; 715-255-0013.
The O-W Food Pantry serves over 100 families each month from the greater Owen-Withee community. We are housed at Nazareth Lutheran Church, 1127 Division St, Withee. We provide baby diapers and wipes once/month to families as well.
