The Osceola Optimists had their annual banquet last night and recognized VFW Post 4197 the Friends of the Optimist Award for the year. The VFW has continued to support community service projects with service and monetary donations, and strengthened the relationship between the two groups. Receiving the award last night is Bill Snider, Commander. Thank you, Osceola Optimists.

Each year we observe the VFW National Day of Service, which we celebrated May 9. By concentrating veteran-led community service projects on this day, and throughout the month of May, the VFW intends to bring focus to the role veterans play in the well-being of their communities.

The attached pictures are local VFW members focusing their efforts on improving the Osceola RV Park hardware, as well as the shelter house and picnic tables near the boat ramp and Osceola Optimist Park.
