On July 17th, 2024, Geneva, NY lost one of their dedicated servants from our community. Assistant Chief Kevin Powers, having served 70 years with Nester Hose Company, passed away and will be remembered for his leadership, commitment to his community, his passion for being a true servant and ensuring the safety of all. His dedication and passion for firefighting continues to inspire many, both young and old.
Chief Powers name can be heard in many stories, where it was common for him to ask how your family was doing, and was always there to listen and offer advice if needed. If you were lucky enough to know Chief Powers, you know the pride he took in his work and the residents of Geneva. He will greatly be missed.
Please keep his family, friends, the Nester Hose Fire Department, and our community in your prayers as we mourn his loss. Thank you, Chief Powers, for your many decades of dedication. Rest in Peace 1101.
Calling hours will be at Devaney-Bennett Funeral Home Monday July 22nd from 4-7. Nester Hose will meet at the Funeral home at 6:00pm. Funeral will be Tuesday July 23rd at 1:00pm at St. Stephens Church. Uniformed Members are asked to meet at Devaney Funeral Home at 12:15 for final walk through and procession to the church.
