Stop into Galveston's premiere local brewery. Located on the west end of Galveston Island, and just a block from the beach, Galveston Island Brewing is a great stop on your tour of the island. All beers on our 18-tap, tap wall are brewed right on site. Our beers range from The Official Beer of Galveston, TIKI Wheat, to our year-round #1 IPA, Citra Mellow. Our rotating tap wall boasts one off brews, specialty releases and year-round favorites. Galveston Island Brewing has something fun for the whole family. Family and dog friendly (in the yard area, on a leash). We have a playground, games for all age ranges and a whole lot of relaxation. Outside food welcomed. Food trucks most days. Cans and bombers available to-go. Growler fills available. Bring your own growler or purchase one in the tap room. Galveston Island Brewing's Tap Room is open 363 days a year. Closed Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day.

The second annual Run For a New Day 5K will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. The event, sponsored by the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention Galveston Chapter, will begin and finish at Galveston Island Brewing, 8423 Stewart Road.

There will be a temporary road closure from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on 85th Street between Stewart Road and Seawall Boulevard.

There also will be a modified traffic lane from 6:30 to 9 a.m. on Stewart Road from 85th Street to Alice Street.

Police officers will assist with participants crossing Seawall Boulevard from 85th Street to the south sidewalk nearest the water.

An Introduction to Su***de Prevention is a community-based presentation that covers the general scope of su***de, the research on prevention, and what people can do to help save lives. Free to attend. No reservation required.

This inspiring event is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention (AFSP) and mental health initiatives. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to support a great cause, this event is perfect for everyone.
