Sometimes the strongest decision you can make is to walk away.

After losing his father to su***de, Houston used alcohol to cope with the pain. Eventually, he realized it was taking more than it was giving and chose a different path.

Houston’s story is a reminder to check on your people, know when it is time to step away, and never let one night become the worst decision of your life.

If you drink, make the call. Get an Uber. Get a Lyft. Call a friend. Just do not drive.

Led by Jed Lirette, a 15-year U.S. Navy veteran and Senior Homeplace Ambassador at the Jack Daniel Distillery, this guided experience will explore the art, history, and craftsmanship behind Jack Daniel’s, along with stories from Jed’s military service and time at the distillery.

If a five-year-old understands it, grown adults have no excuse.

This week’s Safety Brief comes from Luis’ daughter, Mackenzie. As the child of two Marine veterans, the colorful language and aggressive knife hand are apparently hereditary.

Her message is simple:

Drinking and driving is bad. She does not give a f& #@ what your excuse is, your mom would not be happy, and you don’t want Mackenzie to come looking for you.

Call a sober friend. Get a designated driver. Use a rideshare. Just get home safely.
