Did you know that data centers are expected to account for about half of the growth in U.S. electricity demand through 2030? โšก

As AI adoption accelerates and data center capacity continues to expand, the amount of power required to support these facilities is growing right alongside it.

And with greater computing power comes greater heat.

As the industry prepares for increasing power and rack densities, efficient and reliable cooling strategies will remain an important part of supporting the next generation of data centers.

What's good for your IT equipment isn't necessarily good for your electrical infrastructure. So, should your gray space and white space share the same cooling strategy?

We'll examine how increasing critical loads, equipment temperature requirements, and evolving data center designs are changing the conversation around gray space cooling.

96% UPS efficiency sounds impressive. But what happens to the other 4%?

For a UPS supporting a 10 MW critical load, those losses can represent approximately 400 kW of heat that must be managed.

As data center rack densities increase, so do the demands on the critical electrical infrastructure supporting them. And the cooling requirements of gray space equipment, including UPS systems, batteries, and switchgear, can differ significantly from those of modern IT equipment.

Join David Meadows, Director of Technology, and Aaron Harkness, Technical Business Development Manager, for our next Tuesdays at Two webinar: Data Center Gray Space Cooling: What Engineers Need to Consider

We'll explore:

๐Ÿ”น How increasing power densities affect gray space cooling requirements

๐Ÿ”น Why electrical and IT equipment may need different thermal environments

๐Ÿ”น When should a dedicated gray space cooling strategy be considered

Did you know that today's high-density data center environments can require air handling systems capable of delivering more than 100,000 CFM of airflow?

As rack densities and heat loads continue to increase, moving large volumes of conditioned air efficiently throughout the data center becomes increasingly important.

STULZ CyberWall AHU configurations can deliver up to 110,000 CFM, providing the airflow needed to help support today's demanding high-density environments.

Another example of how cooling technology continues to evolve alongside the data centers it supports.

The continued growth of data center infrastructure across the U.S. is showing no signs of slowing down.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has filed plans for a massive 36-building data center campus in Homer City, Pennsylvania, spanning approximately 1,100 acres across six sites. Each two-story data center is planned to include roughly 225,000 square feet of space.

The project is expected to be developed in four phases, with construction beginning in December 2026 and full completion targeted for 2036. Once operational, the campus could also create an estimated 1,500โ€“2,000 jobs.

Supporting infrastructure at this scale will require equally significant power resources. The campus is expected to receive power from a new 4.5 GW natural gas generation facility, with more than 1 GW of its output expected to be returned to the grid.

Projects like this continue to highlight the tremendous scale of investment taking place as demand for digital infrastructure grows across the country.

What does it mean to design an AI-ready data center?

For cooling, it means building flexibility into the infrastructure from the start.

As AI and high-density workloads increase thermal demands, many data centers will need to strategically combine air and liquid cooling based on workload, existing infrastructure, and long-term goals.

Thatโ€™s the role of hybrid cooling: using the right cooling technology where it makes sense while creating a thermal architecture that can adapt as requirements evolve.

Our latest blog explores considerations including:

๐ŸŒŠ Building on existing cooling infrastructure
๐ŸŒŠ Integrating the right cooling technologies for your climate
๐ŸŒŠ Planning for operations and serviceability
๐ŸŒŠ Preparing for evolving AI workloads

Your climate will continue to evolve. Our mission is to help you stay adaptable.

Did you know that AI Servers are growing 30% per year?

The International Energy Agency (IEA) projects electricity consumption from accelerated servers, primarily driven by AI, to grow about 30% annually through 2030.

As computing demands evolve, STULZ continues to develop cooling solutions designed to help critical infrastructure keep pace.
