This morning, sisters Tina Ciraci Velazquez and Anna Ciraci Panagopoulos confirmed that the renowned restaurant La Piazza Ristorante will soon close after nearly three decades of service in Fort Worth. The two grew up with the restaurant and have worked in more recent years shoulder-to-shoulder with dad Vito Ciraci, the illustrious restaurateur who first opened the elegant Italian dining room on West 7th Street. “It is with mixed emotions that we and our dad have had to make this very difficult decision," Tina and Anna write us in a note. “But as much as we have loved owning this business, it is time for us to pursue alternate dreams and for our dad to rest a bit! It has been such a beautiful journey and we are so grateful for all of our faithful customers that have supported us and the incredible friendships we have made over the past 29 years.” Aiming to maintain a thoughtful level of service through the holiday season, the family chose not to make a big announcement. We expect their New Year’s Eve arrivederci will be accompanied by the customary singing with which Vito and daughter Tina have entertained a loyal clientele.
