Today's assignment: Power of the Purse, supporting Dolly Parton's Imagination Library through United Way of Fort Smith.

We had the pleasure of preparing lunch for 265 guests today, supporting a program that's become such a meaningful part of Dolly's legacy, putting books into the hands of children and helping inspire a lifelong love of reading.

Great people. Great cause. Questionable journalism.

As if October hasn't been interesting enough, somewhere in the middle of everything, I've also managed to launch a website.

The Secret Spoon Society website is officially live! 🥄

I'm not sure I have the words for this one.

Two nights. Nearly 1,600 guests. Roughly 800 hot meals served in just 28 minutes each night.

But maybe the most impressive part to me isn't the numbers.

It's these people.

From industry veterans with decades of experience to folks stepping into hospitality for the very first time, every single one of them showed up and brought the ruckus.

I've always believed it's not about how many people you have. It's about having the right people.

And I can't remember ever being part of a crew quite like this one.

They stepped outside their comfort zones, trusted one another, communicated, and somehow managed to have a hell of a good time doing it all.

To every single person who was part of this, I hope you know how proud I am of what we accomplished together.

But more importantly, I hope you know how grateful I am for you.

You guys absolutely crushed this.

For now, we rest.

Me and the Spoon crew are out here doing Spoon stuff 🤙

Monday night, I got to put together a pretty special in-home dinner for 20 people. Hors d'oeuvres, three courses, and a wonderful evening around the table. That's the good stuff.

Yesterday, we reached the summit of Prep Mountain with some absolute rock stars!

The next two days? Just a little gathering for 1,600 people across two nights. Let's goooo

And Sunday, we're teaming up with the sweet folks at Garrison Goodies for an intimate afternoon talking all things chocolate at Flavor Lab Vol. 3!

It's pretty special getting to do all this alongside some really incredible humans.

What a ride. 🥄

To quote Grant Strickland Sunday night, “Happiness looks good on you.”

That stuck with me.

Looking back through these photographs, apparently happiness was the dress code.

Y’all clean up nice.

I've spent a lot of time trying to put into words what the Secret Spoon Society is really about. And I think these pictures explain it better than I ever could.

You can't manufacture genuine laughter. You can't force a connection. And you certainly can't plan the moments that end up meaning the most.

Those things happen because of the people in the room.

The food and drink are just the excuse.

Behind the scenes of the behind the scenes.

Kane Bassham texted me at 5:40 this morning absolutely fired up about some of the images he captured Sunday night.

And I think one of my favorite parts of watching this weird little thing grow has been watching other creative people start to care about it too. Bringing their own perspective, their own ideas, and seeing things in these rooms that I don’t always get to see while I’m in the middle of it.

I can dream up the weird little ideas and make the food. Someone else makes the music. A room full of people brings the energy. And somewhere in all of that, somebody like Kane is paying attention to the little moments happening around the edges.

They say it takes a village.

Turns out it does. Ours is just an extremely specific one.
