I don't know how many of you are super in tune with the Vikings off-season? I follow it very close every year. A big source of mine is listening to KFAN on iheart radio every single day.

HC Kevin O’Connell on how defenses will play against their weapons on offense:

“I call it the Justin Jefferson program. If they’re playing man coverage, they’re absolutely not playing Justin 1 on 1… what that means if you’re going to try and play those coverages, and have a spy for Kyler Murray, or for that matter any of our other QB’s, you’re leaving yourself a 3 man rush… so you have to ask yourself, what do you have to take away. If the answer is Justin Jefferson or Jordan Addison, there’s going to be some opportunity (for everyone else on offense).”

If you're reading this like I am, KOC's mind has been made up and Kyler Murray is our QB1. He slipped up and told us all! 🤣

Lots of different perspectives on the Kyler Murray signing in MN. Personally, I’m still pinching myself. It’s hard to believe we landed a player of this caliber for the league minimum of $1.255 million. I’m SOOO excited to see how this plays out.

For that kind of value, why not see what he can do for a year in purple while J.J. McCarthy sits, develops on his rookie deal, and gets time to really marinate. I for one am not sure he could stay healthy on the bench for a season. Fans can still hope McCarthy becomes the long-term answer while Murray leads the team this season. IF Kyler gets us to the playoffs and even wins a game or 2, The Vikings will be in the same Sam Darnold situation a year ago. We as Vikings can only hope this happens, because that means the Kyler Murray experiment was successful.

The Kyler Murray haters can keep hating, and that’s fine. If we’re wrong about a $1.255 million experiment, so be it. At that price, the risk is minimal. And honestly, it will be a test for Kevin O’Connell too. Is he really a QB whisperer, or did Sam Darnold just make things look good in the right situation? We will be rewarded with a new HC, which will not hurt my feelings at all. Most of you know I am not KOC's biggest fan.

Now let’s finally nail the draft. We have to be due for a good one!

Also, I miss seeing all my purple friends on Sundays at Backroads Brewhouse & Sports (formerly Pelican Larry’s). How’s everyone feeling about this move?

As much as I hate KOC! Reading all the reports that are coming out saying he wanted Darnold, and then when that failed, he wanted Rodgers because McCrappy was just not ready, maybe this will calm my hate towards him(KOC). We messed up big time by not retaining Darnold. Even I admittedly was wrong about that...This feels similar to the Herschel Walker trade when Dallas went on to win multiple SB's.

This will ultimately prove me right or wrong that KOC is a good coach or not because he will get to draft players HE wants. If the Vikings miss the playoffs in 2026/2027, KOC is gone. I have said it before and I will keeps saying it, KOC is way too soft! He needs to hold players more accountable and not hand out participation trophies when mistakes are made. When I played football in high-school, my coaches screamed at me and I know it made me perform better. I am not saying I want someone to scream at the players, I am saying I want more of a Herb Brooks approach! Professional, the point is clear with no margin for error. KOC will never win a playoff game as the HC of the Vikings.
