One year ago today, we turned the keys over to the landlord who decided not to invest in the future of a property. That decision closed more than just a building, or a business that was housed at the property for 42 years — it shut down a gathering spot for countless memories, a dance floor broken in better than your favorite pair of jeans, and a stage that paid over $180,000 to local musicians in 2023 alone.
But Sundance has always been bigger than four walls. It’s been a community, a launchpad for musicians, and a home for every milestone and memory.
For the past year, your comments, questions - and outright begging to bring it back, inspired us to see Sundance for what it truly was: a community that connected, celebrated, and supported each other.
So many of you asked how you could help; you offered to donate to GoFundMe’s, started petitions, and you kept Sundance’s memories alive. You supported us, you encouraged us, and you inspired us.
That’s why we’ve created the Rocky Mountain Country Music Association: a fully approved 501c3, dedicated to supporting live music, musicians, and the community - and yes: bringing back Sundance!
Sundance has always belonged to this community—and now, officially, it will! Supported and operated by a non-profit— it will no longer depend on one landlord or one lease or even one owner, but instead by the community of those who love it!
Get ready, we’re just getting started.
