John Paul Graham was born in Houston, and now, is a Verde Valley based multi-media
artist with works including paintings, films, and photos. The pieces displayed consist of oil and acrylic paints that reflect a world of internal color and shape. He draws inspiration from the southwestern scenery, and pictographic shapes and forms. Growing up in Houston, he had access to many art galleries, providing inspiration for what art can be. He looks up to artists like Paul
Klee, Max Ernst, Joan Miro, and Pablo Picasso for their ability to manipulate color and lines into artificial landscapes and portraits.
In addition to painting, he went to school at Northern Arizona University for documentary making where he learned how storytelling allows us to connect and share our ideas. He continues to have a camera in his hand trying to capture life around him to share his perspective.
In addition to being an artist, he is a soon to be father, devoting much of his work to his
daughter, Frances. Becoming a father has lit a fire and pushed his creative drive to make his daughter proud. He lives with the idea that anyone truly can be an artist as long as they are creative in their approach and true in heart.
PS- This is John Paul’s second time exhibiting at Hops and we are so excited to have him back.
A big thank you to Corinna Haines of Corn Dawg Photography for sharing her amazing photography with us during the month of April.
