People of Earth….
This one is from The Funks.
Actually… we do have a plumbing issue… the government stepped on our money hose.
Long story short, the pandemic torched us. It was a perfect storm of finishing the expansion just in time for the shutdown. When we were able to come back, we faced increased labor and product costs, supply chain issues, labor shortages, deferred rent, a brand new, top of the line ice machine whose sole goal was to not make ice AND although we qualified for the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, we lost out because the government, despite their promises, never fully funded the program and ran out of money leaving us and 177,000 other restaurants without the funding we so desperately needed.
COVID took so many things. It took our momentum. It took friends and family. It took everything we had trying to keep the dream alive. Our only choice was to stick a fork in it.
This was by no means an easy decision. We put so much of ourselves into this labor of love and truly don’t regret it. We are very proud of what we built and accomplished over the last 9 plus years at our neighborhood pub. We couldn’t have done it without all the support from our patrons and staff. Thanks to all of you.
Going forward our goal is to focus on remembering all the fun we had and friends we made.
But wait! There’s more! You won’t be able to get rid of us that quickly. We’ll be around. Kim and Kelly are planning to take a stab at it. We are rooting for them and will help where we can as we believe the neighborhood truly needs the place we all created…
So long and thanks for all the fish,
Love,
The Funks
P.S. stay tuned for our upcoming book,
