Yesterday I saw a post and pictures of the old Springdale gym on Emma Avenue. I was in Springdale this afternoon and drove by SHS to say goodbye. I remember the first game played in that gym I was 10 or 11 hrs old. Memories of that gym flooded my mind when I saw the rubble. I was 6 years old when I carried the football for SHS Homecoming assembly. I broadcast my first Bulldog basketball game on KBRS in 1965. I got my coaching start working with Scott Van Hoose and Terry Foringer.coaching 7 th graders at Central in that building. As I thought back to how much that old building had meant to me my eyes filled with tears. I picked up an old red brick from a pile and put it in my car. That old building meant so much to so many of my generation!! Sad to see her go but it was time!!! Dick Harris, proud member of the Class of 1965!!!!😂❤️
