Anthony Joe Highley singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Wi******er, Kentucky will be back at Shenanigans & Shine on Saturday, June 13th! He is known for his eclectic mix of musical styles, he blends elements of bluegrass, 1970s rock, 1990s alternative, and outlaw country music into a unique Americana sound.
Highley developed his passion for music in Kentucky, largely influenced by his family. He "cut his teeth" playing music alongside his grandfather, which heavily grounded his early style in traditional bluegrass and country roots. He grew up attending Powell County High School and Grant County High School.
As a live performer, Highley frequently acts as a "one-man band" during his solo shows. He uses live-looping techniques to build songs layer-by-layer on stage in front of the audience, blending rock, country, and bluegrass elements together. He is also an original storyteller; for example, his song "Trouble in Harlan" was written after a 92-year-old man approached him after a show in Jackson, Kentucky, and shared his life stories about living in Harlan, Kentucky.
Come on out to Shenanigans this weekend to meet him, and witness his eclectic mix of musical talent!
