🕯️ ONE LAST EVENING OF VICTORIAN MOURNING AT THE LIZZIE BORDEN HOUSE!

Ever wonder what it was like when someone died back in the 1800s?

The clothing, the traditions, the superstitions, and even the food served at funerals were quite different from what we're familiar with today.

Well, this Sunday, October 25, the Lizzie Borden House here in Fall River is hosting its final Victorian mourning evening of October.

The event is called "In Mourning: A Victorian Funeral."

Guides dressed in Victorian-era clothing will take guests through the funeral customs and mourning traditions of the 19th century.

You'll learn about mourning attire, jewelry, funeral etiquette, and some of the unusual beliefs surrounding death during that period.

They're even serving funeral cake and warm mulled c***r!

And for those who want to explore a little further, there's an optional basement experience covering the darker side of Victorian funeral traditions.

🎟️ $20 per person

Optional experiences are available for an additional charge.

With all the renewed attention surrounding Lizzie Borden and Fall River, it's interesting to see visitors getting opportunities to explore the history of the time period beyond the famous 1892 case.

🚧 BIG CHANGES HAPPENING AT THE OLD LePAGE’S SEAFOOD!

Well, it looks like the former LePage’s Seafood on Martine Street is finally getting its makeover!

We stopped by to check on the progress, and as you can see, the outside of the building is getting quite a transformation.

For those who haven't heard, the property is being turned into Anchor & Stone, a new restaurant from the brother-and-sister team behind Black Salt in Swansea.

The plans call for a coastal-inspired restaurant featuring fresh seafood, seasonal dishes, and space for private events.

For 34 years, LePage’s was part of Fall River's restaurant scene before closing in 2022. A lot of family dinners, celebrations, and memories were made at that location overlooking Watuppa Pond.

It's good to see this property getting some attention again, and we're looking forward to seeing what the finished restaurant looks like!

No confirmed opening date just yet, but we'll keep following the progress.
