LONG POST & PROGRESS UPDATE:
The short & skinny of it is this: We aren't open yet, but we are working hard to get things wrapped up here while we are waiting for our final Health & City inspections and are expecting to open sometime in March. If you want more, just keep reading.
We want to take a moment to give everyone an update and the heads up that we should be open sometime in March. First and foremost, we want to thank God for the blessings and favor He has shown us and for the people He has placed in our path during this chapter of our lives. We stand in awe at His grace and all the ways He has moved during this venture. God is so Good!
We also want to thank all of you who have prayed for, encouraged, and supported us, or lent a hand or more when needed, we wouldn't have made it this far without each and every one of you! We are blessed beyond measure and Break Time wouldn't be possible without your prayer and support!
We'd also like to thank you all for your patience! I know that it's been a year since we decided to turn our long-time dream into reality; we wanted to open last spring/summer, we really did. But, really wanting something does not make it happen faster or give you more hours in a day to accomplish the things that need done and unfortunately, there are no magic wands to wave or genie bottles to rub that will get the work done for you. Many of you have connected with us on social media and we've received countless phone calls and messages from people asking about Break Time, everyone has been so encouraging and positive. Those calls and messages are the fuel that has kept us moving forward to bring Break Time to life, so Thank You for connecting with us!
As I have mentioned, I've been dreaming and planning for Break Time for about 20 years and in that time, I've filled a notebook with ideas of everything Break Time, from how I want the space to look and the atmosphere I want to provide to the activities and fun I want to include. That being said, there was a lot more work to be done than was anticipated (we are working on a space in a building that's over 100 years old). Let's not forget this space used to be a pawn shop and 3/4 of the walls were covered in pegboard. My husband and I, along with our son, have done all the work here (with a little help from family & friends when available). There was only one bathroom in the space with no room to spare for a second one (which is required if we have more than 15 people - patrons and employees) and that added a good bit more to our To-Do List here, but we found a solution, so no worries there, just a little bit more work. We have also fabricated the window benches, bar tops, and countertops in our wood shop using mostly reclaimed wood.
To answer the question "Couldn't you have just made the place presentable and opened sooner?" The answer is Yes, we probably could've done the minimal amount of work, some minor repairs, slapped some paint on the walls, and installed carpet, but, we don't want to be just another "hole in the wall." (No offense to any establishment, we've shot thousands of games and met a lot of great people at some of those "hole in the walls".) But, we wanted to do it right so we could give our customers our best and create the atmosphere and vibe that we always envisioned. Also, in our patience and perseverance throughout this project, we have been blessed in so many ways! We have met people who we wouldn't have met, whose guidance and input was valuable beyond measure and we acquired items that we never would have happened across, had we rushed to get open sooner. We are realizing once again, it's all in His perfect timing. Patience is a virtue!
We ask for your patience just a little longer and hope you will agree that it was worth the wait. There are just a few things left for us to do while we await our final Health & City inspections. Our 7' Valley tables should be here sometime next week and we'll be installing the Tournament Blue Simonis Cloth. We are so excited about this opportunity to provide our community with a great place to shoot pool and get together for some fun!
Your continued prayers and support are requested. We can't wait to see you all here at Break Time Billiards.
Follow us I will try to post some updates over the next month and I will post about our opening date as soon as we get the OK!
