Hey friends and fans and fam. We are super close to opening the new spot. We will shout out soon with a date.
This post isn't about that though. Our hearts are heavy. The restaurant business isn't like any other. Many broken people find a job and a refuge in the restaurant that other businesses may not offer them. I can't speak of all restaurants so I will speak of ours. When we hire a new employee, at first they probably feel a cliquey environment that is difficult to break into. I hate that but it's because we have become family. And within a couple weeks, if you hang in there, you begin to feel the family surround you.
We are sad now as a community and family of restaurant peeps. There's been so much loss. So many young beautiful souls have left us in whatever way.
I wish we were already open so we could do benefits and bring people together for the commradie and the monetary help to those hurting.
Southbar had an amazing event tonight for a fellow restaurant family member and it was beautiful. In the mist of their recent loss, they pulled together, so many showed up and they did a really good thing for Natasha who is still battling to recover. Mad props y'all and huge prayers for all that were close to Grizz. RIP brother. 💔
The loss seems too much, because it is.
People not in this industry may not understand the community and family that is built in the kitchens and front of house crazy that's not so different from war time battle lines at times. We get extremely stressed and depend on each other day in and out to man your station and help pull others out of the chaos in 15 minute increments most times. Then at the end of the night, we join together to celebrate our lil victory that we accomplished together.
The family I have in our crew is my whole heart. I love my husband and kid the most always, but I have brothers and sisters that have become my blood without blood. We cry together, we celebrate together, we pick eachother up and apologize when we let eachother down.
God built us to live in community and I'm so thankful for ours and it's not just us, our regular patrons are part of it too.
Our hearts are broken and our prayers are with the families and our family for healing and comfort and peace.
Our Sage family, we are with you.
Our McSharreys family, we are with you.
Our Southwood family, we are with you.
Our Dragonfly has been where you are and we are full of love and compassion for you during this time. Please let us know if we can be of any help or comfort. 😥
This community is strong and we will link arms and support eachother.
I will end in a prayer and say restaurant family is something like nothing else.
Father God, I pray for Your peace to surround our friends. I pray that you give us all a hope for a better way to show love and support to anyone under our care, to be the shoulder and support they may need for a better tomorrow. Heal the broken. Bring redemption to the lost. Let us reach out regularly to the ones who are on the fray. Let us be present and enjoy each moment we spend together. Heal our broken hearts and let better days come soon. In Jesus Name Amen.
