Fair Lawn PBA Local 67 strongly opposes the Borough’s consideration of outsourcing our 911 dispatch services.

Public safety dispatchers are not just call takers, they are highly trained professionals who serve as the critical first link between our residents and emergency services. They know our community, our officers, our streets, and our needs. That familiarity and experience cannot be replicated by an outside agency removed from the day-to-day realities of Fair Lawn.

Outsourcing 911 services raises serious concerns about response times, communication efficiency, and overall service quality. In emergency situations, seconds matter. Any loss of local knowledge or breakdown in coordination can have real consequences for both our residents and the officers responding to calls for service.

This proposal is not just about cost, it is about public safety. Decisions that impact emergency response should prioritize effectiveness, reliability, and community trust above all else.

Our dispatchers are dedicated public servants who have proven their value time and again. They are an integral part of our public safety team, and they deserve our full support, not uncertainty about their future.

We are calling on our residents to stand with us. Ask questions. Make your voices heard. Attend meetings. Reach out to your elected officials. This is about the safety of our families, our neighbors, and our community. Together, we can ensure that Fair Lawn continues to provide the level of emergency response our residents expect and deserve.

Public safety works best when it remains local, accountable, and rooted in the community it serves. We will continue to fight to protect that standard side by side with the people of Fair Lawn.
