While Nero’s time is coming to an end at the end of this month, I am very excited to tell you about my plan for the future: Nero 2.0
I don’t know when exactly I will build it, but I will. It won’t be in the original location but closer to downtown and UofO (without actually being downtown).
Nero 2.0 will be a Tokyo style Kissa again, but it will be much more than the original:
It won’t be a wine-bar per se anymore. I imagine the drink menu being pretty equally split in four parts: Wine, craft beer, non-alcoholic cocktails, and especially during the day: High end green and oolong tea.
The music will also not always be jazz. It will always be an audiophile listening bar, just like the original, but during the day it will be quieter and the music will be classical. The ideal place to write your thesis or dissertation in a calm atmosphere, while sipping a high-mountain green tea from Taiwan. Of course we’ll have blazing fast internet.
In the late afternoon and evening, it will be jazz, like it has always been. Late nights on weekends we’ll switch to house / trance / DnB / NuDisco etc. But unlike pretty much all clubs, it will be at a volume that won’t give you hearing damage.
I see this Kissa as my retirement and hopefully the community will embrace it enough to keep it going for years to come. I think this will be a pretty incredible place.
