Lookout Eugene-Springfield 's spotlight article has really done a phenomenal job shining a light on everything Harlan does for our musical community, and so of course, we just have to jump on that wagon to give our own cheeky style re-share.

Thank you also from the bottom of our LAB's heart, Harlan Rivers for everything you do for us and our Open MIC community. Your care is ever present and from the incredible talent to the pure sound and equipment, Tuesday nights would not be what they are without you.

Happy Wednesday and gloriously beautiful fall day everyone!

While we are able to share our feelings of community appreciation and sincere excitement for our events at The LAB all the time, today we are incredibly honored to share some from the very people who we put them on for.

We truly have had a blast collaborating with Robert Canaga for our first session of our extended Paint & Sip series, but today we are honored to share the words and experience from our guest's perspective instead. We sincerely hope that we might see you at our next collaboration if not by our own excitement, but by their incredibly kind words. Thank you, Kat!

" I'm glad that my very first paint and sip experience was with Robert at the Lab. I didn't know what to expect, other than what I read in Facebook posts, and I was anxious about my absolute lack of artistic talent. I felt completely out of my depth. That was before I got there and met Robert. He had such an ease to him and a completely nonjudgmental air that was consistent throughout the whole experience.

His widespread knowledge of the history and materials was entertaining and informative, often interspersed with personal anecdotes that provided an opportunity to bond and relate in a way I doubt would have occurred at a mainstream paint and sip event. The intimate nature of the paint and sip with Robert at the Lab gave me ample opportunity to relax and enjoy myself without any additional anxiety. I can't wait to attend my next event! "

From seasoned songwriters testing out new material to first-timers taking the mic, our weekly unplugged Open Mic isn’t just a show—it’s a living room for Eugene’s vibrant music scene—and this post is just a small effort to share our massive heartfelt appreciation for all of you. From our host, Harlan Rivers , Marjorie & The OWL Cats, and every single guest opener, regular performer, and neighbor who steps up to the mic or fills the room with warmth each week. Sophia is a singer songwriter and visual artist living in Eugene. She has always loved to sing, and started playing guitar a few years ago, quickly developing a passion for the art. Her music is gentle and explores emotional, esoteric, and natural themes. Sophia is also a painter, and you can find her and her work at the Eugene Saturday market weekly.

Open Mic Night is only ramping as we move into our beloved pumpkin season at the Oregon W**e LAB , and this week we are thrilled to feature Axon as our headliner!

Often introduced as "the great American troubadour," Axon brings 50 years of performing experience to our stage. His signature finger-style guitar, rich baritone voice, and blend of folk, swing, and blues deliver a captivating sound best described as "Hayseed Jazz."

After the mood has been properly set, our purely acoustic stage opens up to local voices of all styles. Grab a pour of William Rose w**e, grab a bite from El Tio, and settle in for a relaxed night of local music and community vibes!
