Thank you to everyone who has reached out over the past few days. We so appreciate your kind words, understanding and support during this time.

For those who have been asking, our reason for closing has to do with the struggle to keep up with the ever rising costs of running a full service restaurant. We lasted as long as we possibly could, but it’s only become more difficult each year.

For those wondering about the brewery taproom in West Eugene, our plan for the future is to focus all of our efforts on that location, continuing to grow the brand, our offerings, and our connection to the local community.

For now, our focus is on a strong and meaningful finish to an amazing run in South Eugene. Stay tuned for more information about our final days of service and celebration of 7 incredible years of our sweet Southie.

A message from owner, Jonna Threlkeld:

Dear Friends,

It is with great heaviness in my heart I share with you the news of the coming closure of our beautiful Southtowne Pub on Willamette.
As of now, our last official day of service is set for Saturday, June 21st, and we intend to go out with a bang.

When we opened the pub in May of 2018, I could never have imagined what an epic journey lay ahead of us. We were Viking Braggot, a little warehouse brewery with a strange name and different style of brewing, excited to bring our brews to South Eugene and share our love of honey ales with the neighborhood.

Over the years, we have had the opportunity to grow with our community. So many special life moments have happened here. We are deeply grateful to all of you who have supported us, to our friends who helped us build this place, and especially to those of you who have made us your regular spot. It’s been an honor to serve you.

To our absolutely wonderful Southtowne team, thank you for making our vision for a comfortable, quality, community-driven pub experience into something beyond what I ever could have hoped for. Your professionalism, your passion, your kindness and positivity are what truly make this decision to close the most difficult. I am so incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together. On behalf of our customers, Dan and myself and Viking, thank you.

To our supporters, we hope to see you in the days leading up Southtowne’s closure. We will keep you posted on any changes, as well as details for our final festivities! We look forward to the chance to serve you all at least one more time before we close the doors for good.

This coming Monday, March 17, we’ll be serving up a traditional Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner at the Southtowne Pub, set to the Celtic/World music of David Helfand & the Majestic ensemble! Our annual Holiday Art Sale is upon us! Join us at the Southtowne Pub on Willamette Sunday, December 1st to shop this sweet market of wonderful local vendors and artisans. Shop noon-5pm and enjoy a meal and a beverage or two while you’re at it! Skol!
