Esther Elsie (Konrad) Kremer, 95
November 13, 1930 - December 1, 2025
A Celebration of Life was held for Esther Kremer Saturday, May 9, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Scotland.
Esther Elsie (Konrad) Kremer was born November 13, 1930, to Phillip and Anna (Bietz) Konrad on the family farm north of Kaylor. She was baptized December 7, 1930, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kaylor. She was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Scotland. She attended school in Kaylor until her sophomore year when she attended Tripp High School. She worked at several grocery stores in Kaylor and Tripp. She married Doug Kremer October 5, 1951. They farmed near Delmont for several years, and then the family moved to Killeen, Texas, where they owned several car washes. In 1969, the family moved back to Kaylor where they owned and operated Kremer Oil for several years. She earned an accounting degree at a Community College in Killeen. In 1971, she went to work for Jim and Lorry Schmidt at Schmidt Drug for 29 years. She retired in 2000 to enjoy more time with family and traveling.
She died Monday, December 1, 2025, at her home in Scotland under hospice care at the age of 95.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Freier, Scotland, and Gayle (Jeff) Anderson, Arlington; brothers, Melvin (Lavonne) Konrad, Mitchell, and Ken Konrad, Kaylor; sister, Alice (Marvin) Suess, Hillsboro, Oregon; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 2007; son, Dick, 1998; son-in-law, Jim Freier, 2017; brothers, Elmer and Clifford Konrad; sister, Mildred Guericke; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Hieb) Konrad, Norma (Schnabel) Konrad, GayLynn (Klemme) Konrad, LaVern Kahler and Faith (Ted) Gunnare; and brother-in-law, Curtis (Marlene) Kremer.
Luke George Ryks, 46
June 18, 1979 - April 28, 2026
Funeral services for Luke Ryks will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Burial will follow at New Home Lutheran Cemetery in rural Mitchell. Visitation will be Friday, May 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Arrangements are by Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.
Luke George Ryks was born June 18, 1979, in Mitchell to Debra and George Ryks. He graduated from Mitchell Senior High School in 1998. He was a member of the wrestling team for six years, helping the team win six consecutive state championships.
He died Tuesday, April 28, at the age of 45.
He is survived by his parents; brother, Jason Ryks; nieces, Makayla Batton, Laney and Ella Ryks; nephews, Kristian Coughlin, Jacob Ryks and Logan Gunderson; great-niece, Baylor Batton; great-nephews, Braxton and Benton Batton; along with many other relatives and friends.
Edward Weber, 76
June 6, 1949 - May 5, 2026
A Funeral Mass for Edward Weber will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Dimock. Burial will follow at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 22, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Arrangements are by Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.
He died Tuesday, May 5, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 76.
