Good morning,
This evening at the Oceanside Elks Lodge (444 Country Club Ln.) we have an entire night of open-mic karaoke...no showcases, although last weeks showcase with Beverly & Fedora was one for the books, no contests, just karaoke. Come and join a great group of people for a great time!
As for the "Sing For The Stars" contest, I received the following from Mr. Bill Ims (one of our Masters Of Ceremony), however there is one small change and that is there is an opening in the Male Division and in the Duet/Group Division, all others are filled.
Happy September, Everyone:
We are just 11 days away from our Sing for the Stars program benefiting the campaign to pay down the loan, which was secured for the refurbishment of the STAR Theatre marquee. It looks like the slate of performers have been filled (except for one more male singer); the prizes have been delivered and we are looking forward to a successful program. We appreciate the generosity of our prize donors: Efficiency Escrow; A1 Factory Direct Flooring; Union Bank and Bob Poppleton. Many of our performers have been on the stage at The STAR in the past, and we have a few new faces, who will make this event very special for the community.
This event promises to be very special for the performers. Each will have this rare opportunity to perform the song of his choice in our historic facility, and a recording of that song will be presented to each singer at the conclusion of the show. A special label will be sealed on the CD of this memorable event. Singers can provide their own music track or we can provide it for those who need it in advance of the program. The CD and music track will be produced by Rodeo Mike of Outlaw Entertainment. Mike Heilman is the predominant karaoke disc jockey in the North County area and has very generously donated his time and talent to The STAR for this event. Mike will also be at The STAR two hours in advance of the show to assist singers with a run-thru of their song. We will have several artistic directors from The STAR to coach singers in stage presence during this time.
This is sure to be a fun-filled evening. Your presence will be greatly appreciated and you are encouraged to bring your friends. Our facility is looking beautiful and we can be proud to show it off. The impact of this event can be outstanding or mediocre, depending on the number of attendees in the audience. At only $10, each attendee will receive a ticket for a show included in their program. If we have 300 guests in the audience, that’s $3,000 towards marquee loan reduction. Our goal is $5,000. So we can use a few great prizes to auction at the event.
