Emporia sophomore quarterback Cael Claibourn is quickly becoming a young name to know in Kansas. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound QB accounted for five touchdowns Friday night as Emporia rolled to a 58-20 win over Wichita West. Claibourn threw for three touchdowns and added two more on the ground.

Through just two games this season, the sophomore has already accounted for eight total touchdowns:

Claibourn’s strong start has helped Emporia move to 2-0 under head coach Daniel Goodman, giving the program its first 2-0 start since 2019.

Great size, a dual-threat skill set and already making a big impact as just a sophomore, Claibourn is definitely a name to keep an eye on over the next few seasons. Emporia will look to keep its unbeaten start rolling this week against Labette County.

Goodness we felt the pick up of foot traffic tonight and appreciate everyone’s patience with us! Sorry if food wait times were longer but as always we hope it was worth it! We are trying to adjust to some new staff and our lil kitchen and trust us when we say we stress just as much about ticket times as you on crazy weekend nights!
