Join us for this presentation by the author of Stepping Off the Boat, a newly published historical account of the growth and development of the North Manitou Island community from the 1800s to the early 1940s. It features hundreds of photographs, helping to vividly document this fascinating chapter of our region’s history. The book was also selected as a 2026 Michigan Notable Book by the Library of Michigan. Copies of the book will be available to purchase courtesy of the Cottage Book Shop.

Skies are clear, with some clouds starting to move in.

Today: Some Sun

Skies are a mix of sun and clouds to partly cloudy across the region.
In the U.P., skies feature more clouds and a spotty chance of rain by the afternoon.
Highs reach the mid-60s to mid-70s.
Winds are from the SW/W 5-15 mph.

Tonight: Showers/Storms North

Isolated rain showers will start to increase for the Upper Peninsula overnight.
You might hear some rumbles of thunder, with some pop-up storms.
Lows are in the 50s, with winds from the SW at 5-15 mph.

Mid-Week: More Rain

Isolated showers continue for Tuesday.
Highs are cooler in the low 60s to low 70s.
Wednesday will start dry with more clouds.
By the evening, scattered rain showers will move and continue overnight.

Michigan has seen an above average severe weather season so far year to date. The season is not over yet with more chances of severe weather as early as tomorrow (Tuesday)
