The National Weather Service has issued a High Rip Current Risk for Emerald Isle. Lifeguards will begin changing flags to red at 9:00 AM.

No swimming is advised when red flags are flying due to the increased risk of strong and dangerous rip currents along the beach. Please use caution near the water and stay out of the ocean until conditions improve.

Remember, the ocean is never 100% safe. Always keep a close eye on children and avoid turning your back on the surf.
