Over the winter I told my dad I want to convert the old chicken run to a shed. We downsized chickens and free range so it wasn’t needed for chickens anymore but the kids goat herd is slowly growing and we needed more space for kids and pregnant does plus sick pens to quarantine new or sick animals. Over the past few weekends he has worked on enclosing it into a barn. Yesterday I got the kids involved since it’s for most of their 4-H animals and Riker, Raelyn and I started building the stall walls. The plan is for 1 larger stall 3 smaller stalls and to move the milk stand out here.

From locked in a dark stall unwanted to fresh air, cool mud holes and loving life.

Last October we got a message from Dan’s aunt that she had seen some abandoned pigs that needed a home. Tenants had left them behind and neighbors found them after a couple days with no food or water and started caring for them but they couldn’t stay there. We called them up, hooked up the trailer and went to get them. They had been locked up in an old horse stall their entire life no bedding minimal water and scraps for food. the white one (now Lainey) was super skittish but easy to work with and after some coaxing we got her to leave the barn and load on the trailer. The red one was scared and nasty. She charged Dan several times but we couldn’t leave her there eventually we got her on the trailer also. Contact was made with previous owner but they didn’t want to go through all the legal stuff/bills to get them back and they stayed with us. The red one was eventually butchered due to her personality but Lainey started coming around so we let her be for awhile and see how she adjusted. Eventually we got her healthy and I said heck let’s try breeding her for a litter of feeders since that was the original goal with the pigs and she took first shot and is due late June with a Hereford cross litter. Almost 6 months later she is healthy, gained weight and is enjoying outdoor life.

*if anyone is interested in some feeders pending everything going well we will have some ready to go in August.

Never got around to introducing the new boy that arrived a few months ago.

We have 2 yearling does we brought up from Rupert Ranch in NC last March that we absolutely love so this past Thanksgiving week when I knew I needed a new buck Michele was my first choice to get on a reservation list for a buck. I messaged her fully expecting to be on a list for 2026 bucklings. A few weeks later she posted that she was downsizing and I immediately messaged to see if she had any bucks available. She sent me 2, one of them happened to be the guy we had already discussed months prior as a good match for one of my better does (which was also purchased from her) so it just made sense that he was the guy to join the herd.

So in January we welcomed Rupert Ranch CB Manhunt out of one of her best does, Hooves of Hart Double Dutch, who milked consistently in the 4lb range producing over 1,000lbs last year, made the ELITE list and has an LA score of VEEV 89)

His sire, Better Wayz Cadbury, is out of SG Better Wayz Harmony Carabear (LA EEEE92) and sired by Better Wayz Is A Hunk out of SG Better Wayz Isabelle (LA EEEE92)

In true BB fashion she watched her “friend” labor all day and deliver twins at 3 this afternoon let me go in the house thinking all was good til tomorrow and then snuck one out. I checked BB before going in to get the new kids settled and feed my human kids thinking we had time because it felt like she still had some of her ligaments holding on. Checked camera at 5:30 while making dinner and she was napping. Checked it after dinner around 6:30 and she has a kid out and standing 😑 at least it’s a GIRL this time after 2 years of single bucklings.

kidding season has officially started with our first one on the ground at 5:30 this morning. Not from the doe I've been not so patiently waiting to kid but at least somebody got it started finally.

Day 148 and Semper Fi Acres Royal Luxury aka Flirt, who is now my cousin's, delivered a silver blue eyed 3.6lb doeling, most likely sired by Semper Fi Acres Striking Deals but we will do DNA to verify.

3 more have hit or passed their Day 145 but none look ready yet and then 3 more due in March before a break and then finishing up with 2 more in June.

the pork chops are packaged individually.
pork fat is packaged roughly 4-5lbs per package.

**please note we do find that meishan pork is a little saltier than our normal commercial hogs.

We do currently have half or whole hog available also.
