A great day of remembrance was held Friday 9/11 at the American Legion Post 199 in Edwardsville. Great crowd to share in the tragedy on that day 25 years ago. Now it is up to us to teach our children of the events and how we came together as a country to help one another. Pass on the tradition of helping others. The need to learn to true feeling of volunteering for the simple true feeling of helping. It's not all about what we can get out of it for ourselves but the smile you put on someone's faces for just helping. A special thanks for all those who helped make it so memorable. Who's ready for some fall parades? We've got three coming up in downtown Edwardsville in the next two months, courtesy of our friends at Edwardsville School District #7, the Edwardsville | Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce and American Legion Post 199 Edwardsville. (And YES, Main Street will be in tip-top parade shape!)
🎉 WEDNESDAY, September 30: The Edwardsville High School Homecoming Parade will start at 6 p.m. in the 900 block of North Main Street, heading south on Main Street and then west (on West Vandalia Street) to wrap up at Lincoln Middle School.
🎉 SATURDAY, October 31: The Edwardsville | Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce's annual Halloween extravaganza is on a Saturday night this year, kicking off at Lincoln Middle School at 6:30 p.m., heading east on West Vandalia before traveling north on North Main Street and ending at High Street. This year's theme: Mother Road Memories!
🎉 WEDNESDAY, November 11: American Legion Post 199 Edwardsville is planning its annual ode to veterans on the holiday with a weather-friendly start time of 3 p.m. The parade follows the same course as the Homecoming Parade, starting in the 900 block of North Main Street, heading south and then west on West Vandalia before finishing at Lincoln Middle School.
