💔 WHY WE ARE CLOSED TODAY 💔

We want to explain why the marina is closed today. We came home late last night and found our sweet Bailey wounded after what appeared to be a fight with our Bella over food. She took a turn for the worse overnight and while making calls this morning trying to find an emergency vet, Bailey passed away in our arms.

In her short 10 months of life, she was so very loved. She especially loved her boat rides home from the marina after a day at work with her daddy.

Many of you met Bailey at the marina, watched her grow, and loved on her. She was loved by so many.

We are beyond heartbroken. We just dropped our sweet girl off at Thompson Hills Animal Clinic in Sedalia to be cremated.

Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers today. 💔🌈🐾

Well, this took an unexpected turn!

I was actually in the process of making a post to thank Brent and Christie for their incredibly generous donation of a lily pad for our marina when I got a phone call. The person who had our lily pad contacted us and will be bringing it back tomorrow. Apparently, they were working on some sort of dock project, were in a bind, and needed to use it.

They apologized and explained the situation, and we appreciate them reaching out and making arrangements to return it.

WELL, LOOK WHAT WE HAVE HERE.

Apparently September 1st was a good day for someone to go shopping at Bottoms Up, except they forgot to pay.

Bottoms Up was CLOSED on September 1st, yet at approximately 2:53 PM our cameras caught someone coming onto our property and taking our lily pad.

And yes… WE HAVE VIDEO

These pictures are screenshots from our security cameras showing the boat pulling away with OUR PROPERTY.

Let’s be perfectly clear:

It was NOT abandoned.
It was NOT free.
It was NOT yours.
And you did NOT have permission to take it.

There is a big difference between borrowing something and stealing something when the business is closed and nobody is there to stop you.

What kind of person sees someone else’s property sitting at their business, comes onto the property when they’re closed, hooks it up, and takes it?

Seriously. What the hell were you thinking?

You didn’t just take a lily pad. You took something that belongs to a small business that works its ass off to be here and serve this lake community.

So here’s your opportunity to do the right thing.

BRING OUR LILY PAD BACK.

No games. No excuses. No pretending you thought it was yours.

Because here’s the problem with stealing something in 2026:

Cameras exist.

We have the time.
We have the footage.
We have multiple angles.
And we have you pulling away at approximately 2:53 PM on September 1st.

So whoever you are…

You know who you are.

You have a chance to make this right.

Bring our s**t back.

FIREWORKS SHOW UPDATE:

We are very sorry to announce that, unfortunately, our rescheduled fireworks show for Labor Day weekend has been canceled. We are truly heartbroken and sick over this.

We want to explain what happened because many of you supported our fireworks fundraiser, and we feel you deserve to know the circumstances.

When we purchased Bottoms Up last year, we continued using Aaron Mayfield/AM Pyrotechnics, who had been providing the fireworks show for the previous owner. They also provided our fireworks show last year, so when we planned this year’s show, we contacted Aaron again. In our phone, we simply had him saved as “Aaron – Fireworks.”

Our fireworks show was originally scheduled for July 4th, and Aaron’s contracted Pyrotechnician did in fact show up at Bottoms Up on July 4th to perform our fireworks show. However, because of the severe storm and the conditions in our community, including the loss of power, it was mutually decided between Bottoms Up and Aaron that the fireworks show would be rescheduled for Labor Day weekend.

At that time, we had every reason to believe the rescheduled show was going to happen. This is also why we did not realize that AM Pyrotechnics was the same company we were hearing about in the news regarding canceled fireworks shows. We had an established relationship with Aaron from the previous owner, they had successfully provided our fireworks show the year before, and their crew had actually arrived for our July 4th show. We simply did not put the two situations together.

Monday, we sent a text to Aaron to confirm Saturday’s plans and simply did not get a response. As of today, Aaron has provided us with written information regarding the bankruptcy and instructions for filing a Proof of Claim in an attempt to recover the money we paid for our fireworks show. We will be pursuing that process and doing everything we can to recover those funds. However, there is no guarantee that we will receive reimbursement. But be reassured, if reimbursement is received, there will be one hell of a show in the future. That is our promise to you!

We know this is incredibly disappointing. We are disappointed too. We know many of you were looking forward to enjoying fireworks here at Bottoms Up, as were we, and we are truly sorry that we cannot deliver the show we had promised.

If you made a donation toward our fireworks fundraiser and would like your donation returned, please contact us. We will personally reimburse you for your donation. We want everyone to know that we are not going to leave our customers and supporters out the money they donated and no show to show for it.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared our fundraiser, and supported Bottoms Up. We truly appreciate you, and we are very sorry that this situation has ended this way.
