Our newest sour is hitting the taprooms TOMORROW just in time for our 12th Anniversary Oktoberfest party on Saturday. Counter Currants is our Barrel-Aged Mixed Culture Dark Sour at 6% ABV, available on Draft & 500ml bottles. This dark sour underwent primary fermentation in stainless before being transferred into neutral oak barrels where it rested for 12 months, undergoing a secondary fermentation with our house mixed culture of wild yeast and bacteria. We then added pureed black currants directly into the barrels, kicking off a tertiary fermentation. The barrels were blended, and only 10 cases of bottles were filled, and very few kegs. The resulting b**r is deep and complex, finishing super clean and dry, with layers of flavor from the wild, funky notes of the Brettanomyces, to the tart sourness of the Lactobacillus, and a bold, tangy fruitiness from the black currants. It will develop and change as it ages and even as it warms in the glass so try one today before it disappears!

🍺Durham Oktoberfest is back in Durham Central Park on September 26 at 3 PM! German-style b**rs in collectible 1L steins, German music, a craft market, and Oktoberfest games - including a costume contest, stein hoisting, keg rolling relay, and b**r puppeteer! The after-party will keep things jumping at The Glass Jug from 7-10pm with DJ Gummy so come on out to shop, drink, dance and compete! Labor Day is the perfect time to kick back and appreciate the hard work we all do year round. So grab the fam and friends and a cold beverage this weekend with us. Both taprooms are open on Labor Day Monday. The Glass Jug - Downtown Durham will be opening early at noon for their Pints at the Playground, where we offer free kids charcuterie and you can grab a pint to go for Mt. Merrill. See you Monday!

Getting things ready for our upcoming 12TH ANNIVERSARY happening in September 12th! It’s Oktoberfest season so come by and grab our Festbier! At 6% ABV, in Draft & 12oz cans, this l***r is brewed using small farm single-origin 2-row barley that was malted locally in Durham. The malt is called “WadeFest” Malt in memory of Dan Wade of Wooden Robot. The b**r falls right in between a by-the-books Festbier and a Marzen - a bit lighter-bodied than a Marzen, but a bit richer and higher ABV than a prototypical Festbier. We think it’s the best of both worlds!
