This photo of Walter Boston on a b***o was taken on this day, July 4th in 1888. The Sherman House was located on what is now the northeast corner of Main and 11th, where our friends at Durango Craft Spirits are located today. Walter's father Jacob's photography studio was just across the street from where this photo was taken, probably by Jacob.

Almost exactly one year after the photo was taken, Durango was devastated by fire that burned down the wooden structures you see in this image. To learn more about that fire, join us Saturday July 9th for a webinar at 1pm on Zoom. There is no charge for the webinar, it will be recorded, but registration is required. Register on the Events page on our website animasmuseum.org.
