It is with great sadness that – after 15 years of serving our community – Black Water Lounge will officially be closing its doors after service on Thursday, July 25th.
Times have changed – people’s dining and social habits have shifted – even more so since the impacts of COVID. These changes have pushed us to have to make the difficult decision to close a business that is very special to us.
However, as painful as closing Black Water is, it allows us the opportunity to continue to grow and focus on our other thriving businesses.
Our other local businesses – specifically Greysolon by Black Woods –will continue to be an anchor in the Twin Ports and Downtown Duluth as we have for the last 3 decades. We drive tens of thousands of people to our beautiful downtown venue in Greysolon Plaza every year through weddings, social, and corporate events and will remain steadfast in our commitment to growing and supporting downtown – as well as the entire Twin Ports - through our continued investment in Greysolon and our other locally owned restaurants.
If you have a gift certificate to Black Water that you have not had a chance to use yet, we will honor those certificates at any of our other Black Woods Group restaurant locations (Black Woods Grill & Bar in Duluth, Proctor, and Two Harbors as well as Tavern on the Hill). As for BWG gift cards that have been purchased and BWG Rewards that have been earned at Black Water, we will continue to accept those at any of our locations as we always have.
To the members of our beloved staff – from our very first opening team to those who are alongside us as we close our doors for the final time – we sincerely thank you. You have been the heart and soul of the Lounge. There were many places to be served a delicious martini - but no place like Black Water to enjoy an extraordinary night of being ‘wined and dined' in Duluth, and that was because of you.
Lastly, a special thank you to all of our loyal guests over the last 15 years who have supported us and loved the Lounge as we have. We look forward to continuing to serve you your Lounge favorites at our other locally owned restaurants – more to come on this soon! – and share in your celebrations and special nights out for many more years to come.

It’s Downtown Sidewalk Days and our beloved downtown is bursting with people in the streets! Come down for the festivities and then enjoy a beautiful walk over to the Lounge and enjoy fresh caprese crostinis and a cucumber press, just two of the choices from our Prix Fixe menu offered every Thursday. We are open until 11pm. And a special thank you to all those who are supporting our downtown businesses this week!

Join us Tuesday, July 16th from 7-9pm for a special night of music like we’ve never seen! Jen Burleigh-Bentz, who recently played Diana in Next to Normal and Donna in Duluth Playhouse’s Mamma Mia! Is bringing her Jen BB n’ Friends Cabaret from St. Paul to the Lounge! Jen’s warm and hilarious cabarets are renowned for the mix of jazz, pop, rock and musical theatre songs done “her way”, with an array of fabulously talented, local guests including Kyle Picha, Haley Methner, Vicki Fingalson, Antony Ferguson and more amazing artists from the current Duluth Plahouse’s cast of 9 to 5.
