Unfortunately, I recently had someone say they would never come back to Blue Max because of one of our Fourth of July posts. The photo showed one of our local customers enjoying one of our specialty holiday drinks. He happened to be wearing a Trump hat.

The photo was never intended to be political or to endorse any candidate or viewpoint. It was simply a picture of a smiling customer enjoying his holiday at our bar.

It makes me sad that an innocent moment can be interpreted as something it was never meant to be.

When it comes to our customers and employees, we have people from every walk of life. Some lean left, some lean right, and many fall somewhere in between. What makes Blue Max special is that no one is judged here. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their political beliefs or anything else that makes them different.

We’re a small-town country bar doing our best every single day. We’re not a big chain restaurant with unlimited staff and resources. Our team is made up of hardworking people—some have full-time jobs elsewhere, some are working their very first job, and some are enjoying retirement while working a few shifts. Every one of them shows up because they care about this place and the people who walk through our doors.

Our restaurant is often busier than our kitchen was ever designed to handle, and yes, we make mistakes sometimes. But every day we come to work with one goal: to serve good food, make great drinks, and create a place where people can relax, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company.

Blue Max has never been about politics. It has always been about bringing people together. My hope has always been to create a place that feels like family—a place where neighbors, friends, and visitors can sit side by side, share a meal or a drink, and remember that we have far more in common than what divides us.

Whether you voted red, blue, or somewhere in between, you’re welcome here. Kindness, respect, and community will always be what Blue Max stands for.
