Dubuque Brewing Company Dubuque Brewing Company. The Dubuque Brewing Company opened on May 7, 1896 and became the premier brewery in the nation outside of St. Louis and Milwaukee.

On December 31, 1915 prohibition closed the brewery. Legends persist that Al Capone used the facilities and shipped out illegal beer in milk cans during prohibition. Fast forward nearly a century later, and Dubuque Brewing Company is born again as a premium craft beer.
