Dearest friends,
Our entrance clearly states that we ask guests not to discuss politics or religion while dining or visiting our bar. This policy applies to everyone, regardless of political party, religion, or viewpoint.
Our dining room is small, and conversations can easily carry across tables. In the past, political and religious discussions have made guests uncomfortable and sometimes escalated into arguments that affected customers and staff. Our goal is to provide a welcoming place where everyone can enjoy a meal or drink without being drawn into a debate, made to feel bad, or have to focus on the stress of the outside world.
Recently, a guest became upset when we politely reminded her of this policy and explained why it exists. We attempted to resolve the situation respectfully, including covering the cost of the drinks, but the party chose to leave. Since then, we have received several one-star Google reviews from people who, to our knowledge, have not visited our restaurant and are her friends. We have reported those reviews to Google and are documenting the situation.
We are not asking anyone to argue online or post a review based on this incident. However, if you have genuinely visited us, we welcome your honest feedback about your own experience. Please do not review us if you have not been a customer, and please do not feel pressured to leave a positive review.
Going forward, we intend to continue to apply this policy consistently and respectfully.
