Thank you Everyone..

I would like to sincerely thank the residents of Downingtown and surrounding areas along with the multitude of guests coming from afar... who have shared in the days included in 50 years of food service in Downingtown. I am extremely grateful for all of your support and friendship.

Many years have passed as I prepared meals for my huge family of restaurant friends. Young couples brought their children for pizza and now they are grown and have children of their own. They called me "Chef Georgio". My son has become a successful mature adult with a fine wife, a beautiful daughter and a son to move on to college next year and then to study the business of his grandfather. Where does the time go?

Many years ago, in 1972, I arrived in Downingtown from Greece with my parents as a youth of 15 years. I learned the English language and graduated from DHS. It was not long before I opened Palace Pizzeria on West Lancaster Ave and a few years later, the second restaurant was born as a breakfast spot on the corner of Wallace Ave and East Lancaster at Center Square.

The purchase of the current location in 1983 was renovated to become Georgio's Restaurant and Bar/Deli at the East Lancaster Ave location until now. 50 years of restaurateuring!

And here we are, I am currently out and about mostly in Downingtown taking care of other business. Seems strange, but the time has come to concentrate on many other projects awaiting my time and attention.

If you and I should cross paths, please stop me to say "Hello". I miss the familiar faces of my food service years. You may not recognize me in blue jeans and a plaid shirt rather than my "Chef Georgio" outfit, but I will remember your friendly face.

Please do stop by to greet the new owners and take a look at their renovation to become their spot and the beginning of their restaurant/bar careers in Downingtown at "The Borough".

Yes, Georgio's is doing it again this Thanksgiving. Free Thanksgiving dinner to anyone in need. Stop by our deli between 12:00 until we run out to pick one up.
