For those of you who have reached out during our difficult time with words of comfort and shared memories, we cannot tell you how much that has meant to our family. While we already had tears of sadness in our eyes, you helped turn them into softer tears while remembering the good times. I plan on responding to every one of you, please give me the time to do so.
It is important to remember that Amani's began with a husband and wife who started their dream of owning a restaurant back in 2009. Two beautiful, kind, funny kids became part of their Amani's family over the years, as well as too many guests and staff members to count. For those of you who have only reached out because you are worried about your unused gift certificates from years ago, please understand that it hasn't even been 48 hours since the closure that destroyed dreams. We are not a chain restaurant with faceless investors and deep pockets. We are a family broken apart. It would be kind of you to give us a bit more time to process this and figure things out. Unless you have been in our shoes before, you have no idea how much goes into the closing of a restaurant and its aftermath. I promise you that we are not kicking our feet up and sipping champagne. As we figure things out, we will be sure to let everyone know as we do.
Through all of the years, we have given thousands and thousands of dollars to support our local schools, churches, charities, and families going through terrible times. Even when we couldn't afford it, we did our best to make sure that the ones who needed our help received it. Our community has been amazing in being supportive of our family in return. We couldn't be more grateful to those who understand what we are going through.
We will certainly give more information as it comes. Please be patient with us while our family goes through this. There is no handbook to guide us through something like this, so we are doing the best that we can. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
