Tonight marks the first of a 3 day Walson-Holland residency with our friends at The Pine in Athens. For three nights we are pouring GA Native, Benny Holland’s beautifully crafted w**es from California. We are proud to share his story and showcase his w**es all over GA.
Walson-Holland is a small family w**ery that crafts thoughtful and meticulous w**es with attention to detail and highest quality in every step of the journey from vineyard to bottle. They are proud to work with farmers throughout California’s Central Coast that embody this commitment, and in turn, allow them to make noteworthy w**es. The w**es are produced by Benjamin Holland, who honed his craft at some of California and New Zealand’s most iconic w**eries, including Kosta Browne, Amisfield and Sine Qua Non.
Holland’s path to the cellar starts in his home state of Georgia, which he left in 2004 to hit up South Lake Tahoe for a ski season. He wound up staying for eight years, working as a bartender in Heavenly Village and then helping a friend’s dad run a higher-end restaurant in Reno. That’s where he learned to build a w**e list, began being certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers, and decided to embark on a life of w**e.
