Fun fact: National Donut Day started to honor the “Donut Lassies” who served donuts and comfort to American soldiers during World War I.

Now, we can’t promise donuts at the Dixon Legion…

But we can promise something to wash one down.

So grab a donut from your favorite spot, then swing by Post 353 for a cold drink, good company, and a little small-town conversation.

After all, supporting veterans and eating donuts sounds like a pretty solid Friday plan.

🚨 Shed Update! 🚨

The new storage building is officially going up at the Dixon Legion! 🔨

What started as a concrete slab is quickly turning into a much-needed storage space for Post 353.

Thank you to everyone who has donated their time, materials, and support. We couldn’t do it without this amazing community. ❤️🇺🇸

🇺🇸 PROGRESS IS HAPPENING AT THE DIXON LEGION! 🇺🇸

Today marked the first step in giving Post 353 a fresh new look.

The lower portion of the building is now sporting a fresh coat of paint, and while there’s still more to do, we’re excited to finally see the vision starting to come together.

Next up:
- Finishing the upper portion of the rounded building
- Additional exterior painting
- More improvements as time, volunteers, and funding allow

A special thank you to the Dixon Volunteer Fire Department for donating their time and equipment to pressure wash the building before painting. We couldn’t do projects like this without neighbors helping neighbors.

This isn’t a complete transformation overnight. It’s a series of small projects that will continue to improve our Legion and preserve it for future generations.

That’s how small towns get things done:
✔ Volunteers stepping up
✔ Community support
✔ One project at a time

Thank you to everyone who supports the Dixon Legion by stopping in, attending events, renting the hall, donating, and spreading the word.

We’re not finished yet… but we’re making progress.

Today, we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or the start of summer—it is a day of reflection, of gratitude, and of honoring the ultimate sacrifice made by so many.

From past conflicts to present day, Americans from communities just like ours answered the call and gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy today. Their stories, their courage, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We also remember the families—the empty seats at the table, the loved ones who carry that loss every single day.

We are here for them.
We do not forget.

As you spend time with family and friends today, take a moment to reflect on what this day truly means and the price that was paid for our way of life.
