This collection almost didn’t happen.
Like so many of you, I struggled with how…or even IF…to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. We are living in a moment in our nation’s history where division is deep, violence is prevalent, and everything feels upside down. It’s times like this it’s so easy to lose sight of the ideals that made this country so unique.
I’ve always been a patriotic person, and as a musician I love patriotic music (I’ll instantly step in time to a Sousa march). But lately things have felt…difficult. And that’s exactly why I decided this collection needed to happen. Because despite our differences, and despite the scars in our history, there IS something to celebrate.
So I went back to the beginning. To the place where our founding fathers created an idea that America could be a place where ANYONE - regardless of who they are, what they look like, who they worship, or who they love, could thrive. A place where we are free to pursue our dreams. A place where our voices matter, and we hold our government accountable.
Most of us have a story of how we got here to America. My ancestors came from Europe with next to nothing and built lives here so that one day I could pursue this little dream business of mine. And I am SO grateful.
America is not perfect, but I still believe in her. I still believe in US. I have hope that one day, America will truly live up to her FULL potential.
For now, I offer this collection of American symbolism as a reminder of who we truly are as Americans. May it bring you the same nostalgia and hope it has brought me creating it.
Happy 250th Birthday, America. You’re still worth celebrating.❤️🇺🇸
