Come on out this Saturday for the Front Street Arts & Crafts Festival!

There will be over 40 booths displaying the handmade craftsmanship of artists from around the region, along with family entertainment and festival food.

Taste of Tampa will be at the Station starting at noon. Stop by for a cold beer and gorgeous creekside views!

The Southern Appalachian Mountains are known as the Salamander Capital of the world and harbor an incredible diversity of salamanders- over 50 species!

Slide into Innovation Station in Dillsboro from 6:30pm-7:30pm on Thursday, June 11th to join Outreach Director Skye on an exploration of these mysterious, slippery creatures. During this talk, will discuss why this region is home to so many salamanders, learn how to identify a few common salamander species, discover a few rare species, and share some tips and tricks to protect salamanders in your town, neighborhood, or property.

Attendees will have an opportunity to get up close and personal with live salamanders throughout this event.

Join us at Innovation Station for an afternoon of summer fun! We’re kicking off the season with THREE brand-new beer releases, hot dogs fresh off the grill, summer beats from resident DJ Charlie, and plenty of festive games, including hula hooping, limbo, and more.

Wear your best tropical attire, grab a lei, and enjoy the summer vibes. This event is free and family-friendly, with non-alcoholic slushies for the kids and maybe even a sprinkler or inflatable pool to help everyone stay cool.

The fun starts on Saturday, June 20th, at noon, and runs until around 5 PM.

Did you know about the Tuesday Night Cruze that happens weekly at 6 pm? 🚲

Every Tuesday, riders meet at Motion Makers Sylva, then ride together to Innovation Station in Dillsboro to eat, drink (N/A also available), and be merry.

Folks seeking an earlier start time: meet at Inno around 5:30, ride to Motion Makers, then back to Inno.

Tuesday’s food truck is The Raven’s Fork from 4-8!

If you've ever wanted to attend a Nature on Tap event, you've only got TWO more opportunities this year! They are free! Fun! And informative!

This Thursday, get crafty with Kara from Friends of Panthertown Valley. You'll be making hanging baskets from non-native invasive species removed by the US Forest Service and volunteers! All materials will be provided.

Then, on June 11th, join Skye from Balsam Mountain Trust for an information session on salamanders—like how to identify them and protect them. You'll get up close and personal with live salamanders!

Both events are at Innovation Station at 6:30 PM. Hope to see you there!

This Wednesday!

We realized we have been a little remiss in sharing some things that are happening at Balsam Mountain Trust. Our Executive Director, Michael Wall, will be transitioning from his role later in May to embark on an exciting new adventure as the Director of the Arboretum at the University of Kentucky. Since 2022, Michael has been a champion for cultivating community around conservation and land stewardship in our cozy corner of WNC. While we’ll miss his humor and vision, we are incredibly proud to see him take this well-deserved step!

Want to say, “Fare thee well,” to Michael and Allison and enjoy some stories about the nature they have seen at Innovation Station over the last 3.5 years of “championship creek-watching”? Then join us this Wednesday at Innovation Station in Dillsboro .

What’s next for the Trust? ~ The "steady hands" are on the wheel! Our Board of Directors has formed a search committee to find our next conservation champion. In the meantime, our amazing staff and animal ambassadors are moving full speed ahead with all the programs and community-building that you know and love. The Trust is more than a nonprofit; it’s a promise to the future of Western North Carolina. We are entering this next chapter with more momentum than ever!

Our friends from have already stabilized the riverbank next to Innovation Station. Now we’re looking for some folks who want to help us remove some invasive plant species on the river.
