“I have arrived.” “I will continue to align.”🌷
Those two phrases were on repeat in my mind while driving home last night from a fantastic evening at First Reserve Whiskey Bar. We got to celebrate a MASSIVE 22nd birthday party, sneak next door to see Stone Wolfe playing some GREAT tunes at Wicked Dame, laugh over some silly merch with folks, and play country music all damn night. WHAT!? That’s my job. That’s what I love to do. It’s not easy but it is simple & deeply fulfilling.
I’m a person who is obsessed with goals and striving for more and achieving BIG to the point I felt it start to tear away at me. When people talk to me they always want to know what’s next… i remember the second Blood Disease came out people literally said to me, “so what’s next?”. Not every month can be the biggest month ever. Not every show will be packed out the door. Not every year will I be able to put out massive projects and go back to the same big events. But I had this moment of clarity last night of just how much joy can be found in the little things too. I work with the kindest owners, bartenders, booking staff, BANDMATES… just the BEST people all around me. If someone is an as***le- I don’t work with them again and I’m empowered in my choice. If someone is on my page and they’re creepy or rude- they get blocked and I’m confident that daily I’m finding more of what’s meant for me. My life is intentionally chosen to bring me the most amount of joy. And damnnit if that doesn’t feel really fu***ng good to have finally arrived. 🙏
