Bar IX: Detroit's First Women's Sports Bar

07/29/2026

👋 hey y'all. We're Bar IX. We're going to be Detroit's first women's sports bar.

What's a women's sports bar? It's a place where women's sports is the default, not the exception. Open to everyone, women's sports on the TVs.

We started our journey last May, and we've got a hard but rewarding road ahead. Can you help us build this home for women's sports in Detroit? And yes, we will be IN the city of Detroit 📍

Every contribution counts. Check the link in bio for more details 🔗

After all, don't we all like sports better when women are playing?

🎉 WE’VE MET OUR INITIAL GOAL! THANK YOU! Can we reach $150k?! Each additional dollar contributed is one less dollar of debt we have to carry.

Where does this additional money go, you might ask? The short list:
🍽 Equipment (fridge/freezers/etc)
📺 Premier A/V tech
💵 Professional fees (architectural renderings/lawyers/etc)
📜 Permits

There’s a whole lot of upfront costs to opening a bar, not to mention the cost of build out. Our future home requires a LOT of renovations to bring this historic gem back to life, and we want to do it with a lot of care for the history of this space.

We promise every dollar contributed will be spent with care and attention to detail to ensure this space is welcoming and safe for all. We are so grateful for this community and everything you have already given ❤️

Any additional contributions from now through the end of July only further ensures our success and confirms our belief that Detroit is more than ready to have a home women’s sports 💪
