On October 4th, join us at Lowkey Cinema for a special one-night-only screening of Dreams in Nightmares, written and directed by Shatara Michelle Ford, starring Denée Benton, MARS STORM RUCKER, Sasha Compère, and Jasmin Savoy.
We’ll open the evening with a special screening of To Move in My Mother’s Prayers To Move in My Mother’s Prayers, a short film by local Detroit filmmaker Diop Russell.
Then, we journey into Dreams in Nightmares.
After losing her job, Z sets out across the Midwest with her closest friends in search of Kel, a beloved friend who has seemingly disappeared. What begins as a road trip unfolds into a tender exploration of friendship, identity, belonging, chosen family, and the freedom to imagine a life beyond the one you were handed.
This is a night about Black filmmakers. Black stories. Friendship. Memory. Movement. Dreaming.
