Rafael Leafar has established himself as a remarkable composer and musician not defined by any one genre or style. His connection to jazz was fostered from an early age in Detroit, leading him through DSA, the Detroit Civic Jazz Orchestra, The New School for Jazz, and major performances and recordings with artists including Reggie Workman, Robert Hurst, Marcus Belgrave, Luis Resto, Vincent Chandler, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Marion Hayden, and more.
