As we close out our 79th year at the Bud Tent, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for all the people who have made “Concession Spot 23” a success year after year.
Our grandfather always said the secret to running a good “beer joint” was simple: ice and beer. He wasn’t wrong—but we’ve learned that the true recipe for success also includes great food, incredible people, and strong partnerships.
We are especially thankful for our partners and supporters, including Doll Distributing, Exile Brewing Co., Mentor Iowa, Sysco Foods, and PolicyWorks. A huge thank you also goes to our outstanding management team-Brynn, Mandy, and Danielle who keep the back office on track, while Dru and Gabe ensure the beer and food operations run seamlessly.
I also believe our free entertainment is second to none. Thanks to the efforts of Scott Long, Steve Gebhart, and Bill Burkett, we’ve hosted some of the best bands and DJs on the fairgrounds. This year alone, four acts that once started on our stage have gone on to play the free stages at the Iowa State Fair. We were proud to bring in rising country stars Bryan Martin & Julia Cole, along with Chris Ferrara + The Common Good—truly one of the best bands ever to play the Bud Tent.
Looking ahead, we are thrilled to begin planning for our 80th anniversary at the Iowa State Fair. To all of you who come out year after year to support us—thank you. We look forward to continuing this tradition for many more years to come.
